DimensionU Tournaments Made Easy
A guiding philosophy that DimensionU strives to achieve is that we believe DimensionU is an opportunity to engage all students in learning.
Most traditional academic competitions are designed for and attract students who are excelling in school academically. DimensionU believes that our product and academic competitions are unique in that they provide a doorway for a broader range of student participation and the opportunity to make a difference for an individual student who may not otherwise perceive themselves as being academically successful in the traditional education setting. In the end, we strive to develop an intrinsic love of learning through our products and competitions, and to make a positive impact on the future educational and career pathways of students.

Competitions can be a great way to add excitement into your school day or after school program; they can be as quick as 10 minutes or may span several class periods. What's important is that all students feel included. Since DimensionU can be easily differentiated to independent levels, our tournaments will be inclusive of all students.
Consider the following as you prepare for a DimensionU tournament:
1. Determine the scope of your tournament; single class, grade level, or school-wide.
2. Choose the number of rounds your students will play. Want to keep it simple? Try 1 round! The winner of that round wins your first DimensionU competition. You can gradually increase rounds as you get more comfortable.
3. Select a location for the preliminary rounds and finals round. Your classroom or lab will be great! For a school wide event, try an auditorium or cafeteria where students can cheer on their classmates.
4. Consider a prize for winners. No homework pass or bonus points are popular!
Tip: If you'd like winning teams to advance to a new round, use a tournament bracket like this. Or, simply aggregate team scores--the team with the highest score after your rounds is the winner!

The students... love DimensionU. They love the competition of earning points within the game as well as the video game feel. The teachers love that the students are learning and practicing reading and math while enjoying the game. The tournaments that are held within our district are an especially fun aspect of the program. Our students, and teachers, love the tournaments.
